Pay Stations for visitor Pay to Park spaces are ADA compliant and visitors with a disabled plate/placard will need to pay when parking in these areas. Visitor parking spaces are located at Administration Drive Garage upper level, Commons Garage first level, Walker Avenue Garage upper level, Lot 9 and Lot 7 on Walker Avenue. Visitor parking is $2.00 per hour and payable by MasterCard, Visa or exact currency, no change or refunds provided. Visitor parking is enforced Monday-Thursday from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.Permits for Emeritus Faculty with Approval From Former Department
Some retirees with emeritus status were granted the privilege to park for free with a permit in D lots.  Parking permits can be renewed at no cost by emailing parking @umbc.edu.  Your emeritus letter will provide details of this benefit.

Gated Parking Permits
If upon retirement you were using a gated parking permit, that permit may be retained for the same garage for a fee of $100 per year.  To pick up your gate card, you must first visit the Parking Services office with a copy of your emeritus letter and the fee.  Mailing a check is also accepted as long as your campus ID is included on the memo line.  If approved, your vehicle can be entered into the virtual parking system and you will be permitted to park in the garage you were using at the time of your retirement.

Accessible Parking
All UMBC affiliates utilizing designated disabled parking must register with Parking Services by providing the placard/plate information, medical certificate, and picture ID. Registered individuals in compliance with state regulation may use designated parking only when a university parking permit is displayed with a State issued disabled license plate or placard on their vehicle. UMBC permit holders with handicapped parking privileges may park at any handicapped space on campus except for gated lots which are restricted to gate card holders.

Retirees may park for free at a visitor pay to park space on campus with their valid UMBC permit and disabled handicapped plate/placard displayed if a designated disabled space is not available.

Pay Stations for visitor ‘pay to park’ spaces are ADA compliant and visitors with a disabled plate/placard will need to pay when parking in these areas.

As required by State Law, drivers operating vehicles displaying state issued disabled license plates or placards must provide their state MVA disabled authorization form to Parking Services or Police enforcement officials upon request. The identified disabled person must be either the driver or a passenger in the vehicle.

Any fraudulent misuse or misrepresentation in the display of a State issued MVA handicapped parking privilege and related placards, tags or supporting documentation, while using a UMBC disabled parking area constitutes and establishes the same violation as handicapped parking without a permit and will be charged as handicapped parking without a permit.

It’s free! There are no costs and no forms to complete. If you want to join our mailing list, you have the option of completing the Mailing List/Information Update Form or you can frequently check the website for events. It’s that easy!
